Mr. Newberry has been a director of Lam Research Corporation, a supplier of wafer fabrication equipment and services, since 2005, and has served as the Chairman of the board of Lam Research since 2012. He served as Lam Research's Chief Executive Officer from 2005 to 2011, President from 1998 to 2010, and Chief Operating Officer from 1997 to 2005. Prior to joining Lam Research, Mr. Newberry held various executive positions at Applied Materials, Inc., a provider of manufacturing solutions for the semiconductor, flat panel display and solar industries. Mr. Newberry previously served on the board of Semiconductor Equipment and Materials International (SEMI), the semiconductor industry's trade organization and on the board of directors of Nanometrics Incorporated, a provider of process control metrology and inspection systems. Mr. Newberry holds a B.S. from the United States Naval Academy and completed an executive education program at Harvard Business School. He also serves on the board of Splunk Inc.
