Raya Islam is a Senior Systems Engineer at Ouster, previously known as Sense Photonics, where responsibilities include leading company-wide Systems Engineering efforts for Automotive Functional Safety compliance and developing requirements for early-stage LiDAR hardware and software. Prior experience includes roles as a Senior LiDAR Engineer at Sense Photonics, a LiDAR Validation Engineer and Software Systems Test Engineer at Cruise, and a Product Development Engineer at Uncharted Power. Raya has also held positions at Duke University as a Teaching Assistant in Engineering Innovation and as a Research Scientist in the Humans and Autonomy Laboratory. Additional contributions include founding the Duke chapter of Girls Engineering Change and working in various engineering and teaching roles. Raya holds an Engineer's Degree in Mechanical Engineering from Duke University.
