Swapnil Hiremath has an extensive academic and clinical background in nephrology and epidemiology. Since 2007, Swapnil has served as a professor at the University of Ottawa, advancing through ranks to the position of Associate Professor and Assistant Professor. In conjunction, Swapnil holds roles at the Ottawa Hospital Research Institute as an Associate Scientist and Senior Clinical Investigator since 2011, focusing on epidemiological research related to hemodialysis, hypertension, acute kidney injury, and vascular access. Additionally, Swapnil is a practicing nephrologist at The Ottawa Hospital, primarily caring for patients with hypertension and chronic kidney disease. Previous leadership experience includes a Directorship at the Canadian Society of Nephrology from April 2015 to May 2018. Swapnil's educational credentials include a Master of Public Health from Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, and specialized degrees in nephrology and internal medicine from K E M Hospital, Seth Gordhandas Sunderdas Medical College, and a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery from Seth GS Medical College.
