Marc S. Kowalsky

Dr. Kowalsky currently sees patients in the ONS offices in Greenwich, Harrison, and Stamford.

Marc Kowalsky, MD is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon, with subspecialty certification in Sports Medicine by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery. He completed two subspecialty fellowships: the first in Sports Medicine at Lenox Hill Hospital/Nicholas Institute of Sports Medicine and Athletic Trauma, and the second in Shoulder & Elbow Surgery at the Washington University School of Medicine. He has expertise in the surgical and nonsurgical management of sports injury of the shoulder, elbow and knee. He treats complex shoulder and elbow conditions, including degenerative disease, trauma, and revision surgery. He has a particular interest in the management of shoulder and elbow arthritis, instability, ligament and tendon injuries, as well as knee ligament injury and cartilage disorders.

Dr. Kowalsky has authored original research manuscripts, review articles, and textbook chapters focusing on rotator cuff repair, shoulder replacement, and AC joint reconstruction. He currently serves as a reviewer for the Journal of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, Journal of Shoulder and Elbow Surgery and the American Journal of Sports Medicine. He serves on the Executive Committee of the American Clinical Elbow and Shoulder Surgeons, and is an active member of The American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons, a society made up of the leading national and international shoulder and elbow surgeons.

Dr. Kowalsky has cared for college and professional athletes at every level of competition. As a sports medicine fellow, he was an assistant team physician for the New York Jets and the New York Islanders. He has provided sports medicine coverage for the Tournament of Champions Squash Tournament and the United States Open Tennis Championship. He currently serves as team physician for the White Plains Rugby Football Club, Iona College Rugby Football Club, and the Greenwich High School Rugby Team. He currently serves as medical director for the Northeast Academy national development rugby program. Dr. Kowalsky is a team physician for the CT Whale of the National Women’s Hockey League, and for the USA Rugby National Team.
