Justien Debrabandere has a diverse work experience in the field of biosciences. Justien started working as a Student at VIVES University College in September 2013 and continued until June 2016. In August 2014, they worked as a Labo Pathologie at az groeninge for a year.

In February 2016, Justien joined Durham University where they focused on the development and testing of novel fusion protein biopesticides for the control of crop pests. Their work at Durham University lasted for three months.
