Marjean Smit is an experienced winemaker currently working at Origin Wine since August 2021, focusing on blending. Prior to this role, Marjean served as a winemaker at SLALEY CELLAR from January 2021 to July 2021 and worked as an assistant winemaker at Slaley from January 2018 to January 2021. Additional experience includes an internship at Distell, Nederburg in early 2017 and a position in wine sales and tastings at Nederburg Wines from late 2015 to early 2016. Earlier in the career, Marjean worked as a receptionist at Paarl Veterinary Hospital from December 2011 to December 2014. Marjean holds a BSc Agric in Viticulture and Oenology from Stellenbosch University and completed education at Paarl Girls' High School.
