Akash Karkar has four years of work experience. In 2020, they began working as a Technical Support Scientist II at OriGene. In this role, they worked under the guidance of James Hu and Xuan Liu, helping researchers around the globe with research materials such as cDNA clones, RNAi tools, and purified recombinant proteins. In 2019, they worked as a Graduate Student Researcher at Dr. Winkler's Lab. In 2018, they were a Graduate Teaching Assistant at The University of Texas at Dallas, where they co-led a team of 25 teaching assistants and proctored exams and classes. Akash also worked as a Graduate Student Researcher at Dr. Spiro Lab in 2019. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Akash conducted online Q&A sessions, prepared exams for students to conduct online, and managed online transition of team meetings with undergraduate peers.

Akash Karkar has a Bachelor of Science in Biotechnology from UKA TARSADIA UNIVERSITY, which they obtained between 2013 and 2016. Akash then pursued a Master of Science in Biotechnology from The University of Texas at Dallas, which they completed in 2020. Additionally, they obtained a Graduate Teaching Certificate from the Center of Teaching & Learning, University of Texas at Dallas in May 2020, and a Certificate of Completion towards better understanding of Corona Disease 2019 from AACC Learning Lab in March 2020.
