Celeste Lopez

Binational Coordinator, Sixaola Project at Organization for Tropical Studies

Celeste Lopez serves as the Binational Coordinator for the Sixaola Project at the Organization for Tropical Studies, focusing on promoting equitable access to clean water and addressing environmental risks in the region. Additionally, Lopez is a Professor of Forest Management and Agroecology at Universidad Latina de Costa Rica. Previously, Lopez held significant positions including Vice Minister of Environmental Management at the Ministry of Environment and Energy in Costa Rica and National Director of Social and Solidarity Economy at the Ministry of Labor and Social Security. With a strong background in environmental conservation and social development, Lopez has co-founded Gente, Bosques y Mares, and contributed to various NGOs and international organizations, emphasizing sustainable practices and community engagement. Academic credentials include a Master's degree in Rural Territorial Development from FLACSO and a Diploma in Community Law from the Central American Institute of Public Administration.
