Mahmoud Parsian has a diverse work experience spanning over two decades. Mahmoud started their career in 2001 as a Senior Lead Software Engineer at Ask.com, where they led the development of server teams and implemented server-side packages for a personalized search engine.

In 2006, they joined LimeLife as a Lead Server Architect, where they established the Java server-side infrastructure for developing mobile applications and games. Mahmoud then moved to Zynga in 2008 as a Server Architect, utilizing Java and Apache Hadoop to process large volumes of distributed data sets.

In 2009, Mahmoud founded and served as the CEO of Agile Algorithm, providing various services to clients. Mahmoud also worked at LikeList.com as a Lead Server/Infrastructure Architect, leading the server engineering team and designing the IT infrastructure and networking.

From 2011 to 2013, Mahmoud worked at NextBio as a Senior Architect, designing, developing, and deploying scalable solutions for massive data using analytic and regression algorithms. Mahmoud then joined Illumina in 2014 as a Senior Architect.

In 2015, Mahmoud began their journey as an author, publishing "Data Algorithms" and "Data Algorithms with Spark" with O'Reilly Media. Mahmoud also worked as an Adjunct Faculty at Santa Clara University, teaching courses on big data modeling and analytics, with a focus on distributed computing and scale-out architectures.

Mahmoud'smost recent work includes being the author of "PySpark Algorithms," which teaches readers how to use PySpark to solve big data problems. The book is now published on Amazon.

Mahmoud Parsian has a strong education background in computer science. Mahmoud obtained their Ph.D. in Computer Science from Iowa State University between 1979 and 1982. Prior to that, they completed their Master of Science degree at the same university between 1977 and 1979. Mahmoud's undergraduate education was completed at the Computer Science College, School of Planning and Computer Applications in Tehran, Iran. Mahmoud earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Operations Research and Computer Science from 1973 to 1977.
