Steve Whikehart

Vice President, Instructional Design at Orbis Education

Steve Whikehart has a diverse work experience spanning over several industries. Steve began their career as a High School Social Studies Teacher at Westfield Washington Schools in 2005 and continued in the same role until 2007. Steve then joined Ivy Tech Community College as an Assistant Director of Admissions from 2007 to 2008. After that, Steve returned to Westfield Washington Schools as a High School Social Studies Teacher from 2008 to 2011. In 2011, they rejoined Ivy Tech Community College as an Assistant Director of Admissions until 2013 when they were promoted to Director of Admissions. Steve transitioned to the City of Kokomo as the Director of Development in 2013 and held the position until 2014. Steve then returned to Ivy Tech Community College as Program Chair/Assistant Professor in the School of Education from 2014 to 2016. During this time, they were also appointed as the Department Chair for the School of Education from 2016 to 2018. Steve's career then took a turn in a different direction as they became a City Councilman (At Large) for the Kokomo Common Council - City of Kokomo from 2016 to 2019. In 2018, they joined Orbis Education, starting as an Instructional Designer and working their way up to Manager, Director, and ultimately Vice President of Learning Design and Support, where they are currently employed.

Steve Whikehart completed their Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education at Ball State University in 2005. Steve then went on to earn a Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction from Indiana Wesleyan University in 2010. In 2012, they obtained a Master of Arts in Adult and Community Education from Ball State University. Most recently, in 2021, Steve completed a Graduate Certificate in Industrial and Organizational Psychology from Grand Canyon University.
