Ravi Ahuja is the founder and CEO of Optym, a company that uses optimization to solve real-world problems. Ravi has over 20 years of experience in the field of logistics and transportation, and has authored two books on the subject.
Ahuja began their career as a faculty member at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur, where they taught industrial and management engineering. In 1986, they became a visiting professor at the MIT Sloan School of Management, where they conducted research on the use of information technology in industrial engineering.
In 1996, Ahuja became a visiting professor at Rutgers University's School of Management. Two years later, they joined the faculty at the University of Florida, where they founded the Supply Chain and Logistics Engineering research center. Ravi also wrote two books on incorporating information technology into industrial engineering curricula.
During their time at the University of Florida, Ahuja was involved in several research projects funded by airlines and railroads. These projects formed the basis for Optym, which they founded in order to bring optimization to real-world practice. Many of their doctoral students who worked on these projects became the first employees of Optym.
Ahuja's work has had a significant impact on the field of logistics and transportation, and they continue to be a leader in this area through their work at Optym.
Ravi Ahuja earned their Ph.D. in Industrial and Management Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur. Ravi also holds an M.S. in Industrial and Management Engineering from the same school, as well as a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur.
