Florent Michel serves as the Head of Cryptography and Applications Engineer at Optalysys since March 2020, focusing on commercial applications of optical computing technology, particularly in the fields of Cryptography and Deep Learning. Responsibilities include designing algorithms for Fourier transforms, developing GPU-supported simulators, implementing convolution transformer networks, and creating encryption systems utilizing optical Fourier transforms. Prior experience includes a consulting role at Oxford Immune Algorithmics Ltd, where benchmarking of neural network architectures and image processing was conducted, as well as a postdoctoral research position at Durham University concentrating on Vacuum Decay and field theories. Education includes a Master’s Degree in General Physics and a PhD in Theoretical and Mathematical Physics from Université Paris-Saclay, along with a foundational education at Ecole normale supérieure and notable high schools.
