Ben White has extensive experience in the field of data engineering and analytics. Ben has worked as a Director of Engineering at OpenX, where they were responsible for data architecting and leading engineering teams. At OpenX, they successfully migrated a large-scale Hadoop environment to the Google Cloud Platform and contributed to the re-engineering of data engineering pipelines and analytic applications.
Prior to OpenX, Ben was the VP of Engineering Services at Data Republic, Inc. Ben played a key role in guiding the deployment of complex Big Data systems and led major projects involving data engineering pipelines, streaming analytics, and reporting systems.
Before that, Ben worked as a Senior Systems Engineer at Cloudera and as a Principal at Edgewater Ranzal. Ben also held the position of Solutions Architect at James & Monroe, where they worked for almost five years.
In addition, Ben has experience as a Solutions Architect at Senetas, specializing in Oracle/Hyperion Enterprise Performance Management software. Ben was involved in self-managing projects and marketing activities for the company.
Ben began their career as a Senior Business Analyst at General Motors, where they were responsible for financial forecasting and reporting. Ben also implemented an OLAP-driven online reporting application using Hyperion Essbase and Hyperion Analyzer.
Ben's academic background includes a role as a Research Programmer at the University of Melbourne, where they worked on a software engineering project and served as a teaching staff member for C/C++ programming and UNIX development tutorials.
Ben White has a Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree and a Bachelor of Commerce (BCom) degree from the University of Melbourne, both obtained from 1994 to 1998. Ben also has a Master of Information Technology (M.IT) degree in Computer Science from the University of Melbourne, obtained from 2006 to 2009. In addition to their degrees, Ben has certifications as a Google Cloud Certified Professional Cloud Architect from Google Cloud Platform Certified, obtained in December 2018, and as a Cloudera Certified Administrator for Apache Hadoop (CCAH) from Cloudera, obtained in 2013.
