Gholamreza (Reza) Haffari is a highly accomplished academic and researcher with extensive experience in artificial intelligence, particularly in the areas of machine learning and natural language processing. Currently serving as the Director of Engagement and Professor at Monash University since July 2011, Haffari has also held positions such as Director of Vision and Language (AI) Research and has progressed through various academic ranks. In addition to contributions at Monash University, Haffari is the Head of Speech and Language Technology at Openstream.AI, focusing on developing neuro-symbolic dialogue systems. Previous roles include visiting professorships at Carnegie Mellon University and the University of Washington, along with a postdoctoral fellowship at the University of British Columbia. Haffari earned a PhD from Simon Fraser University and has degrees in Artificial Intelligence and Robotics, as well as Software Engineering from Sharif University of Technology.
