Todd Crane has over 20 years of work experience, starting in 1993 as a GIS Analyst/Manager at Conrail. Todd then worked as a Software Engineer/Manager at Geographic Data Technology (TeleAtlas) from 1999 to 2004. Crane subsequently became the Manager of Products and Projects at James W. Sewall from 2004 to 2008. Todd then joined Penobscot Bay Media as a Project Manager from 2008 to 2010. Crane then worked for PenBay Solutions, where they served as a Project Manager and GIS Consultant until 2013. From 2013 to 2019, they became the Director of Engineering at PenBay Solutions. After that, Crane held the position of Engineering Manager in Buildings & Infrastructure at Cartegraph from 2020 to 2022. Currently, they are an Engineering Manager at OpenGov Inc. starting from September 2022.

Todd Crane holds a Master's degree in Geography with a concentration in GIS and Cartography from the University at Buffalo, which they obtained from 1991 to 1993. Prior to that, they earned a Bachelor's degree in Geography with a focus on GIS and Cartography from the same university from 1989 to 1991. Before pursuing their undergraduate studies, Todd attended Mercer County Community College from 1988 to 1989, where they studied Architecture. In 1987 to 1988, they attended the Eastman School of Music, specializing in Classical Clarinet Performance.
