Junchao Xia has extensive work experience in scientific software development and research in the field of molecular simulation and structure prediction. Junchao is currently a Principal Scientific Developer at OpenEye and Cadence Molecular Sciences. Prior to this, they held positions as a Senior Scientific Software Developer II and Senior Scientific Software Developer I at the same company. Junchao Xia also worked as a Research Software Engineer at Princeton University, where they developed mathematical algorithms and a Python package for reconstructing 3D structures of biomolecules. Junchao provided consulting services on high-performance computing for various research projects at Princeton University. Before that, Junchao Xia served as a Research Associate Professor at Temple University, where they developed algorithm frameworks and Python packages for performing molecular simulations and predicting binding free energies of protein-ligand complexes. Junchao also contributed to the reconstruction of an academic molecular simulation package and developed interfaces for GPU computing. Prior to Temple University, Junchao Xia worked as a Research Assistant Professor at Rutgers University, where they conducted molecular dynamics simulations and calculated binding energies of biomolecules. Junchao developed optimization programs for ensemble structures using NMR relaxation parameters and chemical shifts. Junchao Xia also simulated biological molecules and performed force field evaluations and NMR spectroscopy calculations of carbohydrates. Junchao developed analysis programs using Monte Carlo and genetic algorithms for analyzing NMR residual dipolar couplings. Junchao Xia started their career as a Postdoctoral Fellow at The University of Iowa, where they developed algorithm frameworks and programs for structure predictions of carbohydrates and implemented interfaces for parallel computing molecular simulation packages.
Junchao Xia has an extensive educational background in physics, finance, and programming. Junchao obtained their Ph.D. in Condensed Matter Physics from Clark University, where they studied from 1999 to 2006. Prior to that, they earned an M.S. in Condensed Matter Physics from the Institute of Solid State Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, studying from 1996 to 1999. Junchao also holds a B.S. in Dielectric Physics from Shandong University, where they attended from 1992 to 1996.
