Kim Malfacini has a diverse work experience. Their most recent job was as a Product Policy coordinator for OpenAI. Before that, they worked at Meta as a Governance Manager and Product Policy Manager, overseeing hundreds of NGOs and improving product policies through the expertise of academics, researchers, think tanks, civil society organizations, activists, and users.

Kim worked at Sunrun as a Public Policy Analyst, Senior Manager, and Director, developing and executing legislative and regulatory campaigns, overseeing the Southeast legislative and regulatory affairs, and mitigating risk for the company across Western and Southeastern markets.

Kim also served as an Environmental Action Volunteer for Peace Corps, creating and installing hand-washing stations and directing construction of 25 latrines for over 300 people. Kim was the Undergraduate Representative for UCLA Campus Sustainability Committee and a Research Assistant for UCLA Education for Sustainable Living, where they researched biomedical waste management and recycling. Kim also worked as an Advocacy and Outreach Intern for Artists for a New South Africa and a Campus Organizer for the Silicon Valley Toxics Coalition.

Kim Malfacini earned a Bachelor's degree in Global Studies from UCLA, attending from 2005 to 2009. Currently, they are pursuing a Master's degree in AI Ethics & Society at the University of Cambridge, having started in 2022.
