Ian Prowell has a diverse work experience spanning over many years. Ian is currently working as a Principal Engineer at ONYX Insight since May 2022. Prior to this, from November 2019 to April 2022, they were employed at UL as a Senior Project Engineer. Before UL, they worked at DNV GL as a Senior Civil and Structural Engineer from December 2014 to October 2019. From May 2012 to December 2014, Ian worked as a Project Engineer at MMI Engineering Ltd. Ian also held the position of Assistant Professor at Missouri University of Science and Technology from January 2011 to May 2012.

In addition to their academic roles, Ian gained valuable experience as a Graduate Student Researcher and Teaching Assistant at the University of California San Diego from January 2007 to December 2010. Ian also worked as a Graduate Student Intern at Sandia National Laboratories from June 2008 to September 2008. Prior to their academic career, Ian gained industry experience as a Student Intern at KPFF Consulting Engineers from June 2006 to September 2006 and as a Staff Engineer at Engineering/Remediation Resources Group, Inc. from April 2004 to August 2005.

Ian Prowell has a strong educational background in structural engineering. Ian obtained a PhD in Structural Engineering from UC San Diego. Prior to this, they achieved a Master of Science degree in Structural Engineering from the same institution. Ian Prowell also holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering from Harvey Mudd College. In addition to their formal education, they have obtained a certification as a Professional Engineer from the California Board for Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors.
