Mary Argent-Katwala, PhD

Senior Director, Stakeholder Engagement at Ontario Bioscience Industry Organization

Mary Argent-Katwala, PhD has an extensive work history in the field of healthcare and bioscience. Mary is currently the Director of Strategic Partnerships & Development at the Ontario Bioscience Innovation Organization, where they have been since April 2021. Prior to this role, they served as a Project Lead at the same organization from November 2020 to March 2021.

Before joining the Ontario Bioscience Innovation Organization, Mary worked as a Clinical Trial Manager at Hemostemix Inc starting in May 2020. Mary also has experience as a Consultant specializing in strategy and evaluation, working independently under their own company, Mary Argent-Katwala Consulting, since April 2019.

Mary has held various leadership positions in the healthcare industry. From January 2013 to April 2019, they were the Director of Diagnosis & Clinical Care at the Canadian Partnership Against Cancer. Prior to this, they served as the Director of Research at the Canadian Cancer Society from March 2012 to December 2012.

Earlier in their career, Mary held executive roles at Millennium Research Group, where they served as the Vice President of Therapy, Reports & Consulting from August 2009 to December 2011, and at Decision Resources, where they were the Director of Cardiology & Oncology, Reports & Consulting from July 2004 to July 2009.

Mary began their career in consulting as a Consulting Project Manager at ERA Consulting UK Ltd. from September 2002 to July 2004.

Throughout their career, Mary Argent-Katwala, PhD has demonstrated a strong expertise in strategy, evaluation, clinical trials, and research within the bioscience and healthcare industries.

Mary Argent-Katwala, PhD has a diverse education history. Mary completed their Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) at The Institute of Cancer Research. Before that, they earned an MA (Hons.) from the University of Cambridge. Mary also participated in the Healthcare Leadership Development Program at the University of Toronto - Rotman School of Management. Additionally, they pursued studies in Employee Engagement and Strategic Leadership at the Schulich School of Business - York University. Mary's educational background includes being a Bessie F. Lawrence Summer Science Institute student at the Weizmann Institute of Science.
