Gregory Waffen has over 20 years of experience in the software development field, starting as a Product Development Manager at Blue Lobster Software in 1997. Gregory worked there for two years before moving to Red Oak Software in a leadership role as Vice President of Software Development for 7 years. In 2006, Waffen joined Key Bank Corp where they held two roles: Senior Release Management Engineer and Senior Programmer Analyst. While there, they were accountable for maintaining and supporting release management software toolsets. In 2011, Waffen joined IBM as a Senior Software Engineer, where they remained until 2018. Gregory'slast two years there were spent as a Senior Software Engineer at TWPI. At TWPI, they were a member of a software engineering team responsible for designing, developing, operationalizing, and supporting full-stack solutions. In 2019, Waffen joined Ontada as a Principal Software Engineer.

Gregory Waffen obtained their Bachelor's degree in Computer Science from the Rochester Institute of Technology between the years 1991 to 1998. Additionally, they obtained a certification in Cloudera Hadoop and HBase Developer from Cloudera. The exact month and year of obtaining this certification are not known.
