Francesc Levrero Florencio has a diverse work experience in the field of computational science and engineering. Francesc started their career as a Research Assistant at EPFL, where they developed a numerical model of the prosthetic hip and created a script for assigning muscular fiber directions. Francesc then joined The University of Edinburgh as a Teaching Assistant and later as a Graduate Researcher, during which they developed mathematical models for trabecular bone behavior and worked on parallelizing software for high-performance computing platforms.
Francesc then worked as a Visiting Researcher at the Barcelona Supercomputing Center before joining the University of Oxford as a Postdoctoral Research Associate in the Computer Science Department. During their time at Oxford, they focused on developing finite element electro-mechanical human cardiac models and improving their predictive capabilities and solution algorithms for highly nonlinear behavior.
Currently, Francesc is working at OnScale, an Ansys Company, where they started as a Solver Developer and progressed to the position of Senior Solver Developer. In this role, they were responsible for developing the main solvers of OnScale, focusing on adding new features and optimizing performance for high-performance computing platforms. Francesc also implemented algorithms for multi-physics problems and their corresponding solution techniques.
Throughout their career, Francesc has primarily used programming languages such as Fortran and C++ and has gained expertise in utilizing high-performance computing platforms for their research and development work.
Francesc Levrero Florencio obtained a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Multiscale modelling of trabecular bone: from micro to macroscale from The University of Edinburgh in 2016. Francesc also completed an exchange semester in Mechanical Engineering at EPFL (École polytechnique fédérale de Lausanne) and received a degree in Mechanical Engineering from Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya. Additionally, they have a degree in Industrial Design Engineering from Universitat Pompeu Fabra.
Francesc Levrero Florencio has also obtained several certifications. In September 2019, they completed the course "6.86x: Machine Learning with Python - From Linear Models to Deep Learning" from MITx on edX. In June 2019, they completed the course "18.6501x: Fundamentals of Statistics" from MITx on edX. In 2018, they completed the course "6.431x: Probability - The Science of Uncertainty and Data" from MITx on edX. Francesc also holds the certification of "Associate Fellow" from the Higher Education Academy, obtained in June 2015.
