Isabel Macdonald has extensive work experience in the scientific field. Isabel began their career as a Postdoctoral Researcher at the University of Leicester in 2003, where they worked until 2006. Isabel then moved to the University of Oxford, where they continued their research as a Postdoctoral Researcher from 2006 to 2009.

In 2009, Macdonald transitioned to industry and joined Oncimmune. Isabel started as a Senior Scientist and worked in this role for two years, from July 2009 to November 2011. Isabel was then promoted to the position of Principal Scientist, which they held until August 2017. Their expertise and contributions led their to become the Associate Director at Oncimmune, a role they served from September 2017 to July 2019.

Macdonald's significant experience and skills were further recognized, and they were appointed as Director of Development & Scientific Operations in July 2019. In this role, they played a key role in overseeing the organization's development activities until October 2022 when they were promoted to the position of Senior Director of Scientific Operations, a position they currently hold.

Isabel Macdonald's education history began in 1994 when they enrolled at The University of Sheffield for a Bachelor's degree in Chemistry. Isabel completed their MChem degree in Chemistry in 1998. Following this, they pursued further academic qualifications and attained a PhD in Chemical Biology from The University of Sheffield between 1999 and 2003. More recently, in 2022, Isabel Macdonald embarked on a Senior Leadership Apprenticeship at Nottingham Trent University, focusing on Business.
