Lukas Gust

Senior Data Engineer at Onboard

Lukas Gust has a range of work experience in the field of data engineering and data science. Their most recent position was as a Data Engineer at Onboard, where they began in November 2022. Prior to that, they worked as a Data Engineer at R1 RCM from February 2022 to November 2022.

Before their roles as a Data Engineer, Lukas held positions at Observian, where they served as an Associate Data Scientist & Engineer from December 2020 to January 2022. In this role, they consulted and developed data analytics solutions on the cloud, built ELT pipelines, and provided guidance on cloud data architecture patterns. Additionally, Lukas worked as an Analytics Engineer at Observian from August 2020 to November 2020, where they were responsible for constructing and maintaining Power BI Dataflows and Common Data Models.

Lukas also gained experience as a Data Science Intern at Pluralsight from May 2020 to July 2020. In this role, they independently analyzed sales call transcripts using NLP techniques and improved sales opportunity scoring models using Machine Learning algorithms. Lukas utilized AWS SageMaker as a Data Science work platform during this internship.

Prior to Pluralsight, Lukas worked at Sparrow A.I. as a Data Scientist & Engineer. Lukas contributed to building an NLP prototype product and conducted extensive research and development of NLP and ML techniques. Lukas was part of this 4-person team from April 2019 to April 2020.

Lukas also has experience as a Research Assistant at the University of Utah, where they worked with the Atmospheric Science Department and Synoptic Data PBC. In this role, they independently researched techniques to detect data anomalies and implemented algorithms using statistics and Python. Lukas dealt with large datasets and data queries using Synoptic's API during their time from May 2018 to May 2019.

Finally, Lukas started their career as a part-time Design Computer-Aided Draftsman and Computer System Admin at Fellex Engineering. In this role, they created electrical layouts using Autodesk's AutoCAD LT, designed lighting and power layouts for various building types, and performed other related tasks. Lukas worked at Fellex Engineering from June 2012 to January 2018.

Lukas Gust has a diverse education history. Lukas obtained their Master's degree in Computer Science from the Georgia Institute of Technology between 2020 and 2024. Prior to that, they completed their Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science from the University of Utah John and Marcia Price College of Engineering from 2017 to 2020. Lukas also pursued a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics from the University of Utah between 2017 and 2019. Lukas started their academic journey at Salt Lake Community College, where they earned an Associate of Science degree in Mathematics and Computer Science from 2014 to 2017.

In addition to their formal education, Lukas has also obtained several certifications. In 2014, they achieved the Adobe Certified Associate in Rich Media Using Flash Professional CS6, Adobe Certified Associate in Video Communication Using Adobe Premiere Pro CS6, Adobe Certified Associate in Visual Communication Using Adobe Photoshop CS6, and the IC3 Digital Literacy Certification from Certiport - A Pearson VUE Business. Lukas's certifications also include the Adobe Certified Associate in Graphic Design & Illustration Using Adobe Illustrator. In February 2022, they obtained the Academy Accreditation - Databricks Lakehouse Platform Essentials certification from Databricks.
