Karin Markides serves as the President and CEO of the Okinawa Institute of Science and Technology since January 2023 and holds the position of President-Elect and CEO-Elect at the same institution. Additionally, Karin Markides is the Board Chair at DTU - Technical University of Denmark since January 2021 and previously served as President of the American University of Armenia from July 2019 to January 2023. Karin Markides held the role of Chairman of the Scientific Council for Sustainable Development under the Swedish Government from July 2015 to June 2019, where the focus was on developing sustainable goals and strategies. Prior experience includes serving as Professor and Senior Advisor at Chalmers University of Technology, Deputy Director General at VINNOVA, and Professor at Uppsala University. Karin Markides' academic journey began at Brigham Young University and culminated in a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Analytical Chemistry from Stockholm University.
