Sungpil Ahn has over 17 years of experience in the engineering and consulting industry. Most recently, they held the position of Engineering Manager at Ocergy starting in May 2023. Prior to this, Sungpil worked at KBR/GVA Consultants AB from 2014 to 2023, where they held various roles such as Mooring Package Engineer, Mooring Installation Engineer, Structure Lead/Package Engineer, Hull Structural Coordinator, and Senior Structural Engineer. Sungpil also has experience working at Hyundai Heavy Industries Co., Ltd from 2005 to 2013 as a Structure Engineer/Naval Architect.

Sungpil Ahn obtained a Bachelor's degree in Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering from Seoul National University in 2006. Sungpil later pursued a Master of Engineering (MEng) in Ocean Engineering from Texas A&M University, completing it in 2014. Throughout their educational journey, Ahn also obtained various certifications, including being a Project Management Professional (PMP) from the Project Management Institute, which they acquired in January 2020. Sungpil also became a Professional Engineer (PE) through the Texas Board of Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors in May 2019. Additionally, in August 2013, Ahn obtained the certification of Professional Engineer in Shipbuilding from the Human Resources Development Service in Korea.
