Kelli Shimazu has four years of work experience. In 2018, they worked as a Mechanical Engineer at Oceanit, where they were responsible for research, design, and prototyping for various projects. From 2014 to 2017, they worked at Olin College of Engineering in various roles, including Machine Shop Student Worker, Introduction to Mechanical Prototyping TA, and Undergraduate Student Researcher. In 2017, they were a Mechanical Engineering Intern at Autonomous Marine Systems, and in 2016, they were a Student Technical Assistant at General Dynamics Electric Boat.

Kelli Shimazu attended Punahou School from 2008 to 2014, where they earned their High School degree. Kelli then attended Franklin W. Olin College of Engineering from 2014 to 2018, studying Mechanical Engineering.
