Stephen Spohn is the Executive Director at Ocean State Libraries. Prior to their current position, Spohn served as the Resource Sharing Director at the Massachusetts Library System from September 2013 to June 2019. In this role, Spohn oversaw the in-house transition of mediated interlibrary loan service and the organization's online content efforts, including the launch of their new eContent Program.
Before joining MLS, Spohn was a Senior Consultant for Planning and Assessment at LYRASIS from October 2009 to June 2011. In this role, they provided training and consulting services in the areas of strategic planning, assessment, open source technologies, and Web development. From April 2008 to September 2009, Spohn served as a Senior Consultant for Planning and Assessment at NELINET, where they coordinated planning, assessment, and accreditation educational programs, consulting services, and products.
Spohn began their library career as the University Librarian at Harrisburg University from July 2005 to April 2008. Stephen then served as the Outreach and Orientation Librarian at Robert W. Woodruff Library at Atlanta University Center from July 2004 to July 2005. In October 2002, Spohn accepted a position as the Information Literacy Librarian at Northern Essex Community College, where they worked until June 2003.
Stephen Spohn has a Master of Library Science degree from the University of Maryland and a Bachelor of Science in Microbiology from the same school.
