Allison Fundis has held various roles throughout their work experience. Allison started their career as a High School Biology and Chemistry Teacher at the University School of Nashville from 2004 to 2006. Allison then worked as a Research and Teaching Assistant at the University of Florida from 2007 to 2010. Following that, they served as a Marine Technician for Deep-towed Camera System (contract) at the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution from 2007 to 2011. From 2010 to 2013, they were the Ocean Observatories Initiative Education and Public Engagement Liaison at the University of Washington. Allison then joined the Ocean Exploration Trust, where they held several positions including Director of Education from 2013 to 2015, VP of Education, Outreach & Communications from 2015 to 2017, VP of Marine Operations & Programs from 2017 to 2018, and currently serves as the Chief Operating Officer since 2018.
Allison Fundis completed their Master of Science (MS) degree in Marine Geology from the University of Florida between 2007 and 2010. Prior to that, they obtained their Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in Human Ecology and Marine Science from the College of the Atlantic, where they studied from 1999 to 2003.
In addition to their academic qualifications, Allison Fundis also holds various certifications related to SCUBA diving. Allison has received Advanced Open Water, Wreck, Night, and Underwater Naturalist certifications from PADI SCUBA.
