Dan Qiao

Staff Area Designer at Obsidian Entertainment

Dan Qiao started their career as a Level Design Intern at NetEase Games in 2017, where they worked on the development of a 3D oriental fantasy MMORPG game. They blocked out and maintained a test level, as well as designed props and collectables for a full production level.

In 2019, Dan Qiao interned as a Design Intern at Ubisoft, where they blocked out a PVP test level for prototyping purposes. They also conducted design research and presented findings during their three-month internship.

Dan Qiao then joined USC Games in 2019 as an Art Director. They held this position until 2021, during which they contributed to art direction and management.

In 2020, Dan Qiao returned to Ubisoft as a Level Design Intern, working on the development of an arcade FPS shooter game called XDefient. They designed and drove a multiplayer level from concept to mid-development, making layout iterations and balancing changes based on playtest feedback.

In 2021, Dan Qiao transitioned to the role of Associate Level Designer at Ubisoft, where they worked on XDefient. Their responsibilities included working closely with artists, scripting level events, debugging levels, and providing documentation for other departments.

In 2021, Dan Qiao moved to Infinity Ward as an Associate Game Designer, where they stayed until 2023. Their role involved game design responsibilities within the studio.

Most recently, in 2023, Dan Qiao joined Obsidian Entertainment as a Staff Area Designer. Additional information regarding their role and responsibilities is not provided.

Dan Qiao attended the University of Southern California from 2018 to 2021, where they obtained a Master of Fine Arts (MFA) degree in Game and Interactive Media Design. Prior to that, they studied at Xi'an Jiaotong University from 2013 to 2018, earning a Bachelor of Architecture (BArch) degree in Architecture.
