Alejandro Pironti

Director, Microbial Computational Genomic Core Lab at NYU Langone Health

Alejandro Pironti currently serves as the Director of the Microbial Computational Genomic Core Lab at NYU Langone Health and as an Assistant Professor of Microbiology at NYU Grossman School of Medicine, roles held since February 2021. Alejandro has extensive experience in genomics data analysis, having developed sophisticated pipelines for various genomic applications using tools like Nextflow, R, and Python. Prior to these positions, Alejandro worked as a postdoctoral researcher at the Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard, gaining expertise in Enterobacteriaceae sequencing and analysis. Additional experience includes research at the Max Planck Institute for Informatics focused on HIV-1 drug resistance models and a brief internship in text mining at EMBL-EBI. Alejandro holds a Ph.D. in HIV Therapy Optimization from Universität des Saarlandes and is pursuing an Executive MBA in Business Administration and Management. Academic credentials also include a Master's and Bachelor's Degree in Computational Biology from Universität des Saarlandes.
