Gerdus Heyns has worked at Nutrico SA as a Regional Manager and Marketing Director since 2014. Gerdus started at Metior Trading Company (Pty) Ltd. in 2012 as a Managing Director and left in 2016. Prior to that, from 2008 to 2012, they worked at Hygrotech as a Technical Marketing Advisor in agricultural chemicals.

Gerdus Heyns completed a Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree in Microbiology and Zoology from the University of North West in 2007. In 2008, they pursued a certificate in Agriculture, Agriculture Operations, and Related Sciences at Tshwane University of Technology. Gerdus later obtained a Bachelor of Agriculture in Agriculture, Agriculture Operations, and Related Sciences from the same university in 2010. Gerdus then attended Stellenbosch University in 2010-2011, where they earned a BSc (Hons) degree in Plant Pathology/Phytopathology.
