Scott MacDonald has a long history of work experience, beginning in 1989 as a Software Engineer at Compaq Computer Corp. During their time there, they wrote several customer-focused applications, and was awarded a patent for creating a spreadsheet-based programming paradigm. In 1993, they moved to Cirrus Logic as a Systems Engineer, where they wrote drivers, utilities, and tests for video processing and overlay hardware, eventually becoming manager of a group of 5 developers. In 1996, they joined Microsoft as a Software Design Engineer, where they designed, implemented, and drove several display-related features. Scott then progressed to Senior Software Design Engineer and Principal Software Design Engineer, where they designed, implemented, and drove three features that lowered power consumption, increased performance, allowed optimal presentation of data across virtual machines, and allowed the virtualization of fullscreen games. In 2018, Scott moved to Niantic, Inc., where they took on the role of Staff Software Engineer and Technical Lead for Anticheat. Scott designed, developed, and oversaw the development of a new end-to-end Anticheat system that reduced cost over the previous system by $200,000 per month. Finally, in 2022, they joined Nuna Inc. as a Principal Software Engineer.
Scott MacDonald attended Brigham Young University from 1985 to 1989, where they earned a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science.
