Matt Koch has a diverse work experience in the finance industry spanning over two decades. Matt started their career as a Loan Officer at Associates Financial Services in 1992, where they marketed and originated retail financing, personal loans, and mortgage loans. Matt then worked as a Loan Processor at Home Lending Associates, processing real estate mortgage loans and coordinating services with third-party vendors.
In 1994, Matt joined Custom Closing & Escrow, Inc. / Custom 1031, Inc. as an Exchange Coordinator, Contract Collections Manager, and Closer. Matt prepared and completed Section 1031 Tax Deferred Exchanges, analyzed and controlled client trust accounts, and prepared closing documents based on lender requirements.
From 1995 to 1999, they worked at USB Mortgage Company, Inc. as a Loan Processor and Contract Collections Manager. Their responsibilities included advising customers on real estate contract inquiries, maintaining escrow accounts, and processing and analyzing mortgage loans.
Matt then joined Northwest Farm Credit Services in 1999, where they held various roles over a span of almost 20 years. Matt started as a Financial Specialist, designing new consumer residential mortgage products, training staff, and creating procedures. Matt later became a Credit Underwriter, updating and refining the loan process and supporting origination staff. Matt then served as a Team Lead and Senior Credit Underwriter, mentoring staff, analyzing loan applications, and being directly involved in project work. Matt also held the position of Manager in Consumer Underwriting, overseeing risk analysis and assuming system administrator responsibilities for loan origination software. Finally, they served as Assistant Vice President in Country Home Lending, providing training, coaching, and direction to sales and support staff while creating guidelines and procedures for a mortgage program.
In 2019, Matt joined Washington Trust Bank as a Compliance Team Lead - Home Loan Center. Matt provided direct supervision of a team, supported complex compliance functions, and ensured regulatory requirements were met.
Currently, Matt is a Senior Compliance Analyst at Numerica Credit Union, where they continue to provide expertise on Home Mortgage Disclosure Act requirements. Matt mentors staff, monitors changes to laws and regulations, and implements necessary changes through procedure development, consultation, and training.
Throughout their career, Matt has demonstrated a strong understanding of compliance, regulatory requirements, and data integrity, while also showcasing leadership and mentoring skills.
Matt Koch attended the University of Puget Sound from 1987 to 1991, where they obtained a BA in Economics. Matt has not obtained any additional certifications as of now.
