Ed Lance has over 20 years of experience in the IT industry with a focus on Agile methodologies, Java/J2EE, and object-oriented principles and practices. Ed founded nTier Training in 2005 and has served as the Chief Technology Officer, Founder, and Senior Trainer where they have overseen the creation of Agile and programming courses, consulting on projects, and coaching engagements. Ed also worked as a Senior Trainer at Keane, Inc., and Cascade Consulting where they developed object-oriented and J2EE courses for clients and provided technical consulting and training for companies such as Net Objectives, Executrain, and Keane, Inc. Furthermore, they worked as a programmer at Sears, Roebuck and Co where they were involved in large-scale projects incorporating Java (J2EE), Javascript, HTML, UML, SQL in Unix and Windows environments, and taught an in-house Java Fundamentals and Agile Processes course for the Boise Technology Center. Additionally, they worked as an Adjunct Professor at Boise State University where they taught Introduction to Java (CS119) using the university's chosen textbook and developed supporting slides and lectures.
Ed Lance has a Bachelor of Science in Business Communications and Management from Concordia University-Portland. Ed also attended Oslo American School, but it is unclear if they obtained a degree or field of study. Additionally, they are working towards a Masters in Computer Information Technology from Regis University. Ed Lance has several certifications including a SCRUM Master certification obtained in 2003, a SAFe Agilist certification obtained in 2002, a Sun Certified Programmer for Java 2 certification obtained in 2001, and is set to obtain a Certified Profit Streams\u2122 Trainer certification from Applied Frameworks in May 2023.
