Utpal M Vakil has a diverse work experience spanning over several companies and roles. Utpal M began their career as a Research Scientist at AdTech Systems Research, Inc, working there from 1990 to 1992. Following that, they joined GHARDA CHEMICALS LIMITED (now Solvay Specialty Polymers) as a Manager R&D, where they stayed for eight years from 1992 to 2000. Utpal M Vakil then moved to GE Research, where they worked as a Technical Director from 2000 to 2013. In 2013, they joined SABIC as a Senior Manager and worked there until 2016. Currently, Utpal M Vakil is serving as the Director at Novomer, Inc., a position they have held since December 2016.

Utpal M Vakil holds a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree in Chemical Engineering from Syracuse University. Prior to that, they obtained a Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech.) degree in Chemical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay.
