Refayet Siam has a diverse range of work experience in various industries. Refayet is currently the CEO and Co-Founder of Novion, a position they have held since January 2019. In May 2021, they joined Gordian as a Manager of Services and Technology. Prior to these roles, they worked at Accruent as a Program Manager from April 2021 to May 2021, and as a Facilities Consultant from April 2019 to April 2021.
Earlier in their career, Refayet worked as an Engineering Research Assistant at Simon Fraser University's NeuroSpine Labs from September 2017 to December 2017. Refayet also gained valuable experience at LivaNova as a Process Design Engineer Co-Op from January 2017 to August 2017, where they developed and upgraded biomedical processes and equipment.
In 2016, Refayet held positions at Kintec: Footwear + Orthotics as a Hardware Engineer Co-Op, where they developed an insole prototype using Force Sensitive Resistors (FSR). Refayet also worked at Simon Fraser University as a Mechanical Engineer for Neurospine Labs, where they designed an intraoperative surgical tool positioning system, and as a Mechatronic Designer for Li Labs, where they worked on automating different steps for on-chip fluorescent and imaging measurements.
Additionally, Refayet gained experience as a Hardware Design Engineer at Avian Robotics in 2015, where they designed various 3D printed parts for drones, and as an Instructor for Sticks and Stars/Girls in Action at Simon Fraser University, where they taught robotics fundamentals to elementary school students using LEGO Mindstorms NXT and EV3 kits.
Refayet Siam completed their Bachelor's Degree in Mechatronic Systems Engineering at Simon Fraser University. Refayet attended the university from 2012 to 2018.
