Julie Anne Friend is a seasoned professional currently serving as the Director of the Office of Global Safety and Security at Northwestern University, a role held since October 2012. Julie also contributed to the academic community as an Adjunct Faculty Instructor for the Master of Science in Higher Education Administration and Policy program at Northwestern University from January 2020 to December 2022. Julie holds a Doctor of Law (JD) degree from Michigan State University, completed in 2007, as well as a Master of Arts (MA) in English/Language Arts Teacher Education from the same institution, obtained in 1996. Julie's undergraduate education culminated in a Bachelor of Science degree in Speech Communication and Rhetoric from Syracuse University in 1992.
