Stewart Alcorn

Stewart Alcorn is an experienced microbiologist and artist with a strong background in fish health and microbiological testing. Currently serving as Laboratory Lead for the Fish Health Unit at the Northwest Indian Fisheries Commission since February 2013, Stewart oversees microbiological testing operations. Previously, Stewart held the position of Microbiologist 2 at the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife, managing the Fish Health Laboratory's daily activities. Before that, Stewart worked as a Fishery Biologist 2 at the University of Washington, focusing on research related to fish immune systems and hatchery practices. In addition to scientific work, Stewart has cultivated a side career as an artist, transitioning from creating images for scientific publications to producing and selling realistic wildlife paintings. Stewart holds a Master of Science in Microbiology from the University of Maryland and a Bachelor of Science in Microbiology from Oregon State University.
