As senior vice president of health system operations, Winnie Mack, RN, serves as a clinical and operational resource to Mark Solazzo, Northwell's executive vice president and chief operating officer. She is responsible for overseeing and implementing policies, evaluating perioperative protocols, providing counsel for emergency medicine services, and working on issues related labor management, strategic planning, special projects and community relations.
Previously, Ms. Mack was regional executive director of Northwell’s Eastern Region, which includes Glen Cove, Huntington, Plainview, Southside, South Oaks and Syosset Hospitals, as well as Peconic Bay Medical Center. Her primary roles entailed coordinating activities within the region that built physician partnerships and looking for new opportunities for growth and investment.
Prior to the Eastern Region, Ms. Mack was executive director at Southside, where she became the second nurse to lead a Northwell hospital. Prior to her promotion, she served as Southside's vice president of patient care services and deputy executive director, where she strengthened relationships with the hospital’s physicians. She also built and expanded programs to fortify Southside’s position in Suffolk County and worked to overcome financial challenges.
Ms. Mack has more than 40 years of health care experience as a nurse and administrator. Before joining Southside in 2005, she was chief nurse executive and associate executive director of patient care services at Long Island Jewish Valley Stream and Syosset Hospital. Prior to this position, she held a number of high-level administrative and nursing positions at Continuum Health Partners’ Beth Israel-St. Luke’s Roosevelt Health System, Winthrop-University Hospital, Nassau University Medical Center and Stony Brook University Hospital.
