Tom Malkin

Tom Malkin has extensive work experience in business intelligence, analytics, and insights. Tom is currently the Practice Lead at NorthStar Solutions Group, LLC since September 2022. Prior to that, they served as the Vice President of Social Intelligence Analytics at Ipsos from October 2021 to September 2022, where they achieved significant growth for the Ipsos SIA Advisory Services division and implemented various innovative solutions.

Before working at Ipsos, Tom was the Founder & Owner of Trust In Data, a technology company that provided industry-based social media insights. Tom held this position from January 2020 to October 2021. Additionally, they served as the Vice President of Creative Strategy at Merkle from January 2019 to January 2020, where they transformed messaging development and led teams in creative, customer strategy, client service, and analytics.

Tom also has experience in academia as a Digital Marketing Adjunct Professor and Creator/Part-Time Chair of the Digital Media B.S. Degree Program at Tribeca Flashpoint College from September 2014 to June 2019. Prior to that, they held the role of Principal at I&E LLC (now Trust In Data) from July 2018 to January 2019, where they designed an innovative social media insights solution for brands.

From July 2012 to July 2018, Tom worked at IBM in various roles, including Customer Experience Insights Program Manager and Social Media Principal. During their tenure, they received an invention achievement award and led a successful pilot project with top healthcare payer and provider customers to enhance social analytics and gain industry intelligence.

Earlier in their career, Tom held positions such as Incentive and Loyalty Solutions National Account Manager and Director of Business Strategy at Restaurant.com from 2011 to 2012. Tom also co-founded GeeYee Inc., an award-winning social media insights company, from 2008 to 2011, and served as the Vice President of Business Development at StartSampling, Inc. from 2000 to 2008.

Throughout their career, Tom Malkin has demonstrated expertise in implementing innovative solutions, driving growth, optimizing marketing decisions, and integrating traditional and digital advertising strategies.

Tom Malkin has a diverse education history. Tom obtained a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Accounting and a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in Political Science from the Gies College of Business - University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, respectively, from 1987 to 1992. In 1999, they pursued a Master of Liberal Arts (MLA) degree from the University of Chicago, specializing in the field of Liberal Arts, and completed it in 2002. Later, Tom attended the Northwestern University - Kellogg School of Management from 2003 to 2005, where they received a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree with a concentration in General Management.

Tom Malkin also holds various certifications. In 1992, they became a USPTA Certified Tennis Professional (Level 2) through the United States Professional Tennis Association. Tom received the Great Mind Award for Social Media Intelligence from the Advertising Research Foundation (ARF) in May 2009. In 2014, they earned the First Patent Application Invention Achievement Award for Social Media Analytics from IBM and obtained the IBM-Advertising Research Foundation Social Media Insights Expert Certification from IBM. Most recently, in September 2018, Tom completed the Project Management Certification from the Northwestern University School of Professional Studies.
