Brian L. Thomas has extensive work experience in various safety and compliance roles. Brian L. is currently the Director of Corporate Safety at Nicor Gas since August 2022. Prior to that, they worked at Southern Company Gas as a Manager of Regional Safety from November 2019 to August 2022, and as a Senior Specialist in Safety Compliance from November 2017 to November 2019. Before joining Southern Company Gas, Brian served as a Senior Safety and Health Specialist at Georgia Power Company from August 2014 to November 2017. Brian L. also has a long-term career in the Alabama Army National Guard, where they retired as an Operations and Training Officer (Major) in August 2014 after joining in February 1988.

Brian L. Thomas holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree in Business Administration from the University of St. Francis, which they completed in 2011. In 2002, they also completed a Master of Science (MHSA) degree in Health Services Administration from the same university. In 2017, they obtained a Project Management Certificate from the University of Phoenix. Furthermore, they hold a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Logistics and Procurement from Alabama Agricultural and Mechanical University, completed in 1994. Recently, in 2021, Brian has obtained a Certificate for Occupational Safety Managers (COSM) in Occupational Safety and Health from Louisiana State University. Additionally, they earned a Safety and Health Management Certificate in Occupational Safety and Health Technology/Technician from the Georgia Institute of Technology in 2017.
