Michael Wood has a diverse work experience spanning various roles and companies. Michael started their career in 1991 at the University of Toronto, where they served as a Professor in the Departments of Medical Imaging and Medical Biophysics. During their time at the university, they also held the position of Director of Research in the Department of Medical Imaging, where they supported faculty research and facilitated grants for new investigators.

In 2000, Michael joined Cedara Software as the Director of Clinical Development for a year before transitioning to GE Healthcare. Later, they obtained a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree in Business Administration and Management, General from the University of Toronto - Rotman School of Management from 1997 to 1999.
