Valerie Savell

Volunteer SPOT Program at North Shore Animal League America

Valerie Savell possesses extensive experience in mental health and crisis intervention, currently volunteering with the SPOT program at North Shore Animal League America since March 2019 to provide comfort therapy using rescue puppies. Valerie has also served as a volunteer crisis counselor at Long Island Crisis Center since October 2017. Previous roles include Director of School Programs in Social Emotional Learning and Anti-bullying at The Human Development Company from February 2013 to January 2014, and a Mental Health Intern at Glen Cove Hospital's Adolescent Unit with a focus on adolescent substance abuse rehabilitation in 2010-2011. Additionally, an internship at Samuel Field Y involved individual and group counseling for senior adults. Valerie holds a Master of Science in Mental Health Counseling from LIU Post (2009-2011) and a Master of Arts in Elementary Education with a specialization in Early Childhood from Hofstra University (1985-1988).
