Kara M. Burns has a diverse work experience in the veterinary industry. Kara M. is currently working as the Director of Veterinary Nursing Development at WellHaven Pet Health since May 2021. Additionally, they have worked as an Independent Nutritional and Healthcare Team Wellness Consultant since 2010, providing nutrition training and professional development training for veterinary healthcare teams.

Kara has also served as a Nutritional Consultant at The Lafeber Company since December 2012. Moreover, they have been the Editor In Chief of Today's Veterinary Nurse, the official veterinary nursing journal of the North American Veterinary Community (NAVC), since June 2018. Kara M.'srole involves providing continuing professional development and support services for the global veterinary healthcare community.

As the Founder of the Academy of Veterinary Nutrition Technicians (AVNT) since January 2006, Kara has been actively involved in advancing the discipline of veterinary nutrition and promoting excellence in this field. Additionally, they have served as an Instructor for basic and advanced nutrition education at VetMedTeam since September 2011.

Kara has also worked as a Nutrition Trainer at PetED Veterinary Education and Training Resources since January 2014, offering in-house training tailored to meet the specific needs of veterinary practices. Furthermore, they were part of the Boehringer Ingelheim Tech Champions team, which did not have specified start and end dates.

Kara's leadership experience includes serving as the President of the National Association of Veterinary Technicians in America (NAVTA) from January 2018 to February 2020. NAVTA is a non-profit association that represents and promotes the profession of Veterinary Technology.

Kara M. Burns has an extensive education history. Kara M. obtained a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Education and Psychology from the University of Maine, where they studied from 1982 to 1986. Afterward, they pursued their Master's degree (M.S.) in Exercise Physiology at Ithaca College from 1986 to 1987. Kara M. continued their education at the University of Maine, earning a Master's degree (MEd) in Counseling Psychology from 1987 to 1989.

Additionally, Kara has obtained several certifications in the field of veterinary medicine. Kara M. is a Certified Veterinary Technician in New Jersey and Massachusetts, as well as a Licensed Veterinary Technician in Maine. Furthermore, they hold a VTS (Nutrition) certification from NAVTA.
