Dathe Wong

Vice President, Education & Public Buildings, North America at NORR

Dathe is an architect with over 25 years of institutional project leadership and construction experience. His portfolio in Education, Public Buildings and Health Sciences demonstrates a commitment to design excellence and passion for social and environmental responsibility. Dathe is driven by the dynamic relationship between the design and integrated project delivery, using craft and technology-enhanced collaboration to provide culturally rich and innovative solutions. Dathe led the largest Integrated Project Delivery (IPD) project in Canada, a $500M (CDN) net-zero carbon ready campus revitalization of Canadian Nuclear Laboratories with four major buildings all in Mass Timber. He was also awarded, together with the broader team, a Design Award of Excellence from Canadian Architect for the Queens University John Deutsch University Centre Revitalization.

As a leader in Integrated Project Delivery (IPD), Dathe has been engaged to speak at multiple industry events including the BuildEX Construction Keynote, the Integrated Project Delivery Alliance (IPDA) Conference, the Canadian Design Build Institute (CDBI) Conference and the International Institute for Sustainable Laboratories (I2SL) Conference. He is a Member of the Facilities Planning and Design Academy for Society of College and University Planners (SCUP), a Panelist of the Metrolinx Design Review Panel and has also been a Visiting Critic at University of Toronto Faculty of Architecture, Landscape and Design Masters of Architecture Research Studio.

Dathe’s Clifton Strengths Finder top characteristic is “Maximizer”, where excellence, not average, is the measure. Together with a high performing team, taking something strong and transforming it into something superb, is what motivates him. This motivation transcends to his personal life, a former competitive cyclist, he has taken the love of cycling to explore the world, he would argue, at the perfect speed.
