Sanne Houby-Nielsen is an accomplished museum professional with extensive experience in leadership and academia. Currently serving as Styresman/VD at Stiftelsen Nordiska museet since February 2015, Sanne previously held the role of Director General at The National Museums of World Culture in Sweden from January 2000 to February 2015, managing various prestigious museums focused on Mediterranean and Far Eastern antiquities. Other notable positions include Assistant Professor of Classics at Lunds universitet and Keeper at SMK – Statens Museum for Kunst. Sanne began a career in research at the Danish Institute in Athens as a Senior Researcher. Educational qualifications include a Docent degree from Lund University and a PhD in classical archaeology from the University of Copenhagen, complemented by a Magisterkonferens in classical archaeology from the same institution.
