Umakanth Thirugnanam is an experienced technology professional currently serving as the Director of Software Engineering for IP Routing at Nokia since March 2023. Previously, Umakanth held various leadership roles, including Senior Software Engineering Manager at Juniper Networks, where management of a team focused on next generation network operating systems took place. At Ericsson, Umakanth excelled as Engineering Manager for Radio Functional Systems and oversaw global 5G projects. Additional roles include director at Espial for technical product management and principal engineer at Ciena, contributing to packet networking products. Early career experience includes project management in submarine sonar systems at the Department of National Defence and multiple software development positions at Nortel. Umakanth holds a Bachelor of Applied Science in Electrical Engineering from The University of British Columbia.
