John Larson

John Larson is the current Chief Operating Officer at Niron Magnetics. John has also held positions as an Adjunct Faculty member at the University of St. Thomas, a Senior EPI Manufacturing Engineer at International Rectifier, and a Senior Staff Process Integration Engineer at Cypress Semiconductor.

Larson began their career as a Project Manager and Principal Scientist at Spinnaker Semiconductor in 2000. In this role, they were responsible for leading the development of new 3-level, 4-level and 5-level interconnect technologies for Cypress’ 130nm embedded non-volatile technology. John also guided the development of unit process modules, test structures, and models.

In 2007, Larson left Spinnaker to join Cypress Semiconductor as a Senior Staff Process Integration Engineer. In this role, they led the development of new 3-level, 4-level and 5-level interconnect technologies for Cypress’ 130nm embedded non-volatile technology. John also guided the development of unit process modules, test structures, and models.

In 2009, Larson left Cypress to join International Rectifier as a Senior EPI Manufacturing Engineer. In this role, they led critical, high value-add projects surrounding launching pilot production of novel GaN-on-silicon process technology for power electronic applications.

In 2015, Larson left International Rectifier to join the University of St. Thomas as an Adjunct Faculty member. In this role, they served as the Senior Design Clinic Faculty Advisor in the School of Engineering.

In 2016, Larson left the University of St. Thomas to join Niron Magnetics as the Chief Operating Officer.

John Larson has a PhD in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Minnesota, as well as a B.A. in Math and Physics from St. Olaf College. John is also certified by the Society of Mechanical Engineers in Bronze Lean Knowledge Certificate and by the American Society for Quality (ASQ) in Six Sigma Green Belt and Six Sigma Black Belt.

Their manager is Andy Blackburn, CEO. They are on a team with Frank Johnson - CTO, Jian - Ping Wang - Co-founder and CSO.
