Ryan Bannen has worked in the field of bioinformatics since 2002. Ryan began as a Biochemistry Research Assistant at UW-Madison, where they developed and used a sequence-based method to improve the thermal stability of an enzyme. In 2008, they joined Roche NimbleGen Inc. as a Scientist II, Research Informatics, and was later promoted to Bioinformatics Scientist II. In this role, they functioned as a group leader during manager absences and worked with R&D scientists to complete several complex and difficult projects. Ryan also monitored the order queue to ensure proper assignment of incoming orders. Ryan was further promoted to Senior Microarray Designer and then to Senior Scientist, where they were responsible for leading analysis activities to support new and existing products. In 2019, they joined Nimble Therapeutics as a Senior Bioinformatics Scientist.
Ryan Bannen earned a B.S. in Biochemistry from the University of St. Thomas and a PhD in Biochemistry from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
