Athan Small possesses extensive experience in materials engineering and quality control, with a current role as a Material Engineer and Quality Control Engineer at NGK Automotive Ceramics USA, Inc. since August 2018. Previously, Athan worked as a Process Engineer and Supervisor at Nan Ya Plastics Corporation America, and served as a Student Lab Assistant at the Analytical Instrumentation Facility, where contributions included designing a high-vacuum heat treatment system and performing material characterizations. Additional experience includes tenure as an Undergraduate Researcher at the Michael Dickey Group at North Carolina State University and an internship focused on quality control at East Carolina Metal Treating, where significant improvements in operational efficiency were achieved through automation. Athan holds a Master of Science in Computer Science from Georgia Institute of Technology and a Bachelor of Science in Materials Science and Engineering from North Carolina State University.
